According to a report by Bloomberg News on the 28th, a state-owned oil company in the United Arab Emirates has notified some of its long-term clients that in May, they can pick up cargoes at Fujairah port, located outside the Persian Gulf, via ship-to-ship transfer.
The report states that some long-term customers of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company have received notices allowing them to pick up cargoes, including Upper Zakum crude oil, at Fujairah port. Upper Zakum crude is produced from the Upper Zakum offshore oil field, and is usually shipped from Zirku Island port deep in the Persian Gulf, which has no oil pipeline connection to land.
Bloomberg News believes that this news implies that the oil tankers carrying these crude oils have already passed through the Strait of Hormuz.
