On the eve of the 73rd anniversary of the Korean War Armistice, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un paid tribute at the Chinese People's Volunteers Martyrs Cemetery, laying a wreath before the Martyrs Tower in his own name.
According to KCNA, on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the Korean War Armistice, Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs Commission, visited the Chinese People's Volunteers Martyrs Cemetery located in Huichon County, South Pyongan Province, to pay his highest respects to the martyrs.
Reports state that Kim Jong-un observed a moment of silence in remembrance of the Chinese People's Volunteers martyrs, and paid respects at the grave of Mao Anying, the son of Mao Zedong, who died in the war, offering flowers as a sign of respect.
The report noted that the wreath presented in Kim Jong-un's name was placed before the Martyrs Tower of the Chinese People's Volunteers.
According to the report, the warriors of the Chinese People's Volunteers, during the most difficult and fateful times, supported the just war of the Korean people with their blood. This became the cornerstone of China–DPRK friendship with socialism as its core. The Korean people will never forget the heroic achievements and meritorious deeds of the outstanding sons and daughters of the Chinese people, who fought shoulder to shoulder with the Korean military and civilians in the same trenches during unprecedented life-or-death battles to repel imperialist aggression, selflessly dedicating their blood and youth.
Kim Jong-un was accompanied by his wife Ri Sol-ju, his daughter Kim Ju-ae, Workers’ Party Central Committee Secretary Jo Yong-won, Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui, Defense Minister Kang Sun-nam, and other core cadres when paying tribute.
