The missing minibus and human remains have been found at the landslide site in Pengshui, Chongqing, China.
On Monday, China Central Television (CCTV) quoted the rescue command at the Pengshui landslide disaster site as saying that at about 11:52 pm on Sunday, the wreckage of the missing passenger minibus was found in the C area of the rescue site. Search and rescue work is still being carried out in an intensive and orderly manner.
The report also stated that inside and around the wreckage of the passenger minibus found at the Pengshui landslide disaster rescue site, further searching and technical comparison revealed human remains, and DNA testing is underway to confirm the identities.
According to the "Pengshui Release" WeChat public account, the Pengshui site rescue command released a situation report last Thursday, stating that a large-scale landslide disaster occurred at around 9 am on July 17 in Hanxia Street, Pengshui County. Since the disaster, through extensive collection of clues, on-site registration, visits and investigations, technical identification, information summary and comparison, combined with rescue progress, it has been confirmed that this landslide disaster has resulted in 10 people injured, 11 dead, and 50 missing.
The official newspaper of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, Chongqing Daily, quoted the on-site rescue operation commander as saying that due to the vertical coverage by the collapsed mass at the site, "the survival rate of the missing persons is now very low."
