On the issue of the controversy over the halal logo of ham sandwiches, the Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Datuk Amir, urged all parties to remain patient and let the matter be handled through proper procedures.
He also urged the public not to speculate on the matter and to allow the investigation to proceed.
"We must allow proper procedures to take place, including allowing the authorities to conduct investigations legally."
Last week, samples of the concerned ham sandwiches were sent for examination to determine if they do not meet the conditions of the halal logo. However, Amir stated that the ministry has not yet received the examination results.
"We will ensure the investigation is transparent and prompt."
Once any violation is found, he stated that the ministry would take the necessary legal actions.
On January 10, UM closed two convenience stores suspected of selling non-halal ham and cheese sandwiches, which were labeled with a halal logo on the packaging.
