The Russian Ministry of Defense issued a bulletin on the 3rd, stating that Russian Navy Deputy Commander Gudkov, who was responsible for coastal and ground troop affairs, was killed in action on the 2nd during combat in a border area of Russia’s Kursk region.
Earlier, the governor of Russia’s Primorsky Krai, Kozhemyako, said on social media that Gudkov and several other Russian officers were killed in action while carrying out missions in Kursk region.
He said Gudkov had previously served as commander of the 155th Independent Naval Infantry Brigade of Russia's Pacific Fleet. The main base of this fleet is located in Vladivostok, the capital of Primorsky Krai.
On another note, Russian weekly "Arguments and Facts" reported that the command post where Gudkov was located at the time of the incident was attacked by enemy missiles.
The report said that a Russian naval infantry field command post in the border town of Korenovo in Kursk region was hit by at least four enemy missiles; Gudkov was at his command post at the time.
Gudkov was born on January 11, 1983, graduated from the Novosibirsk Higher Military Command School and the Combined Arms Academy of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and began serving as Russian Navy Deputy Commander in March 2025.
