(Miri, 14th) Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, Deputy Minister of Tourism Sarawak, stated that the uniqueness of Sarawak lies in the peaceful coexistence of all people, regardless of race, blessing one another and together creating a society filled with love and inclusivity. This is considered the most beautiful aspect of Sarawak.
He expressed this sentiment during a speech this morning at the 2025 Aidilfitri celebration held at the Miri Elderly Service Center (PPWE) in the center's hall. He expressed his fondness for the center, noting that it is vibrant, with elderly individuals like himself actively participating in various activities.
"Sarawak has a total of 34 ethnic groups, each with its own religion, culture, and dietary habits, yet living harmoniously. This center is the best example, resembling a big family where we cherish our time together."

He also mentioned that if the center has any facility needs, they can directly report to him, and he will assist in improving them through the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) fund allocations.
Additionally, Sebastian Ting urged all senior citizens aged 60 and above to promptly apply for the various welfare benefits provided by the Sarawak government for the elderly, including the Sarawak Care Helpline Benefits (SCHB) and the "Kenyalang Gold Card" discount program.
He highlighted that the SCHB medical plan aims to allow senior citizens to immediately visit participating private clinics for necessary check-ups during emergencies, avoiding long queues at government hospitals and receiving timely medical assistance.
Regarding the "Kenyalang Gold Card," holders can enjoy specific discounts and benefits at designated merchants working with the Sarawak Welfare Department. He expressed gratitude towards all merchants willing to cooperate with the government and support social care, hoping more stores will join in the future to provide more convenience and benefits to senior citizens above 60, ensuring their lives are more secure and dignified.
