(Miri, 14th) The Miri Senior Citizen Service Center (PPWE) celebrated the 2025 Hari Raya festival this morning in the center's auditorium, attracting about 150 members to join in the festivities, showcasing the spirit of multicultural integration.
In his speech, Marzuki bin SuLong, the chairman of the organizing committee, stated that the event aims to bring together elderly people from different ethnic groups to celebrate Hari Raya, conveying the idea of "living in harmony and sharing the festival."
He pointed out that the Senior Citizen Service Center gathers many retired civil servants and seniors, serving as a platform to promote ethnic exchange and enhance relationships.
He said that the festival does not distinguish between races; they welcome friends from all ethnicities to participate and enjoy the joyful moments together.

The chairman of the Miri Senior Citizen Service Center, Pengerusi PPWE Wee Ah Siew, also expressed in his speech his gratitude to everyone who attended and supported the event, especially the Deputy Minister of Tourism of Sarawak, Dato Chen Chia Yaw, whose presence added grace to the event.
"We have had a friendship with Deputy Minister Chen Chia Yaw for over 10 years. The center has received his strong support and financial assistance over the years, allowing us to successfully hold various events. Not only does he provide funding, but he also personally cares about us. Even when he is very busy, he takes the time to attend, sometimes even rushing to the airport to catch a flight afterward, which is truly admirable.
Huang Jin Qin pointed out that the center provides a platform for lively people aged 60 to 80 and above to engage in exchanges and activities. Members can sing, dance, practice Tai Chi, and enrich their retirement life to maintain physical and mental health.
"Having such a center is truly our blessing. I wish everyone a joyful Hari Raya, good health, and happiness every day!"
