Song Used in Strike-on-Iran Video Katy Perry Shocked and Outraged

American pop singer Katy Perry has condemned the White House for pairing her hit song "Firework" with a TikTok video featuring footage of a U.S. military strike on Iranian targets. She stated she had never agreed to her music being used in such a way.

According to the UK's The Guardian, the video released by the White House shows a missile hitting an Iranian vessel, with the post caption stating: "Iran has been warned." The video has garnered over 6 million views. On the 25th, Katy posted on X: "I am deeply shocked and outraged to see my song 'Firework' used as background music for a military strike video on the White House TikTok account. I did not authorize or was even asked for this, and I absolutely do not condone it."

She further stated: "I wrote this song for people going through their darkest moments, hoping it would be an anthem of hope, healing, and inner strength. To see a message about affirming self-worth and uplifting spirits weaponized and paired with destruction and violence is completely against everything my song stands for. My music is meant to unite people, not glorify war."#
