Reported to Friend You Changjing Before Coming to Malaysia: Feng Xiaoyue Says 'He Really Knows How to Eat'

Taiwanese star Feng Xiaoyue came to Malaysia for the first time as a singer, bringing music to interact closely with fans. He showcased his musical talent on China's popular variety show "Call Me by Fire 4" last year, gaining a large following, and made many friends on the show, including Malaysian singer You Changjing. He joked, "Participating in the show was very rewarding. I didn't expect to become good friends with Changjing. We have a lot of common ground in music, and future collaborations are not out of the question." Before coming to Malaysia this time, he specifically "reported" to Changjing, who thoughtfully recommended must-try delicacies like Bak Kut Teh and Nasi Lemak, making him exclaim, "He is my lucky charm in Malaysia!"

The 37-year-old Feng Xiaoyue has been known as an actor for many years, releasing his first solo album "Seven" in 2023. Over the past year, he has promoted his music in Taiwan and China and is now finally bringing his music to Malaysia, looking forward to face-to-face exchanges with more fans. This is his first time back in Malaysia in 9 years, since he filmed the movie "Decoder" in 2016.

At the press conference on the 2nd, Feng Xiaoyue talked about his friendship with You Changjing, with admiration in his eyes: "He is a treasure!" The two maintained contact after meeting on "Call Me by Fire," resonating not only in music but also supporting each other in life. He joked, "Changjing really knows how to eat. Before coming to Malaysia, I told him, and he recommended I eat Bak Kut Teh and Nasi Lemak, and also try Tandoori chicken!"

Reflecting on the experience in "Call Me by Fire 4," Feng Xiaoyue described it as being like "becoming a trainee for once," "As a new musician, joining the show was more like being a trainee. I met many mentors and friends in the music field, including Changjing, Japanese musician Miyavi, and Hacken Lee. I’m very happy to have such exchanges. Singing 'Twilight' with Hacken Lee was really enjoyable, and playing guitar with Miyavi made many friends envy me. I feel blessed to have spent time with him."

Feng Xiaoyue admitted that music has always been an indispensable part of his life, "For me, music is like air and water. It's how I breathe and the medium through which I observe the world and express my inner thoughts." Though he’s known as an actor, creating music has never stopped for him. Feng Xiaoyue described, "Filming is like a large cruise ship—slow-paced with many steps; while live music is like a speedboat, requiring quick responses and offering more direct energy." Compared to acting, which requires waiting for opportunities, music gives him more control.

In March this year, Feng Xiaoyue formed the band "Acrylic Kaki." He revealed that they are fully engaged in creation and plan to release new works in the second half of the year, also hoping to arrange a tour soon. "I know Malaysia has great music festivals, and I look forward to bringing 'Acrylic Kaki' to perform in Malaysia, waiting for everyone's invitation!"
