A fire broke out at around 9 a.m. on the 29th in a hangar under demolition at Tokyo Haneda Airport, burning about 900 square meters of the hangar’s roof. Currently, there are no reports of casualties.
The fire occurred about 1.5 kilometers northwest of Terminal 3 at Haneda Airport. At the time of the fire, more than 20 workers were on-site conducting demolition work, but all personnel have evacuated. The Tokyo Fire Department dispatched more than 30 fire trucks to extinguish the blaze. Japanese police are investigating the cause of the fire.
Kyodo News, citing the Tokyo Fire Department, reported that as of around 10:40 a.m. the same day, the fire had been basically brought under control.
According to the Tokyo Airport Office of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, as of now, this fire has not affected any flights.
