Xie Huijun (stage name: A-Zhen) was the lead singer of the Chinese indie band “Ordinary Rock Band,” beloved by many fans. Unexpectedly, the band’s official Weibo recently confirmed her death without warning: “On the morning of November 9th, during work, her chest was accidentally compressed by the frame of an electric chair, causing her ribs to break and leading to difficulty breathing. She was taken to the hospital for treatment, but despite the medical team’s 10+ hours of rescue efforts, it was to no avail. She left us forever in the early morning of November 10th.”
The band members emotionally recalled the 4-year journey they walked together with Xie Huijun: “As the lead singer, Ms. Xie Huijun not only created more than 10 outstanding musical works for the band with high efficiency and quality.” In addition to music, she actively participated in charity work, the women’s independence movement, and the promotion of independent music, all of which her fellow members witnessed: “As her teammates and friends, we feel endlessly proud of this!”
However, due to the unusual circumstances of Xie Huijun’s death, various speculations arose online. In response, the band issued another statement the following day to clarify: “It was not an automobile electric seat, but a large theater seat.” They called on fans not to be misled by false information. As for the many social media marketing accounts posting similar articles recently, the members emphasized: “We did not buy trending searches for our band, because most likely we will not be holding any more performances—we don’t need the traffic.”
