South Korean President Lee Jae-myung will pay a state visit to China from the 4th to the 7th. On the eve of his visit, Lee Jae-myung gave an exclusive interview to China Central Television's 'High-end Interview' program at the Blue House, stating that the purpose of this visit to China is to minimize or eliminate previous misunderstandings or conflicts as much as possible, to promote the leap and development of China–South Korea relations into a new phase, and made remarks on the Taiwan issue, saying South Korea will, as always, adhere to and respect the One-China Policy.
The interview was broadcast on the evening of January 2nd. This was the first media interview Lee Jae-myung gave after the South Korean Presidential Office moved back to the Blue House. As China is his first overseas destination in 2026, Lee Jae-myung indicated that his goal for this visit is to minimize or eliminate any misunderstandings or conflicts that have existed in the past, to promote a leap in China–South Korea relations and move them into a new phase, so that South Korea and China can firmly establish a relationship in which they mutually support each other's development. He will be leading a business delegation of around 200 people, including representatives of major South Korean companies.
Lee Jae-myung also said that China and South Korea will establish new partnerships in areas such as artificial intelligence and high-tech industries to create a cooperative economic relationship that benefits both sides.
