(Miri, 28th) Curtin University recently brought a science experiment showcase "Fun with Science" to SMK Lutong, allowing 154 Form One and Form Two students to personally experience the fun of science, sparking their curiosity and interest in science.

This interactive event was organized by Curtin University's Faculty of Engineering and Science, aiming to make science more attractive and interesting, while supporting Sarawak's goal to increase STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) participation rates by 2026. The event was led by a vibrant team of students from Curtin Malaysia, who linked classroom concepts with real-world applications through a series of exciting experiments.
Female students enthusiastically engage in hands-on experiments, discovering the wonders of chemistry and physics.

The students of SMK Lutong were captivated by the explosive reactions of the "Elephant Toothpaste" experiment, the dazzling lava lamps, and the peculiar properties of non-Newtonian fluids. These engaging activities not only vividly demonstrated fundamental principles of chemistry and physics but also informed students about future career development and scholarship opportunities in the STEM field.

Project advisor Ir. Jenney Ngu emphasized the importance of practical learning in cultivating future innovators. She stated that when students engage with science through interactive experiences, they cultivate critical thinking and a passion for exploration. This event not only reflects Curtin University's commitment to nurturing young scientific talent but also contributes to Sarawak's aim of creating a highly skilled STEM workforce.

This event was meticulously organized by a team composed of engineering and business students from Curtin University, including David Su Teck Zhi, Joshua Law Yung Jian, Liew Jia Yung, Liew Jia Wen, Lim Jie, Sharon Ting Yee Yee, Sim Yian Hann, Wong Kho Ik, Tsen Li Ni, and Yam Yee Chi. They worked with a clear division of roles, strictly following safety measures to ensure all participants could enjoy the fun of science in a safe environment.
