(Kuching, 11th) As of 12pm today, a total of 39 temporary evacuation centers have been activated across Sarawak, housing 3,806 people from 1,149 families.
According to the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), Serian District has the highest number of temporary shelters, with 26 centers accommodating 2,314 people from 703 families.
This is followed by Samarahan District, with 5 temporary shelters accommodating 550 people from 165 families.
Others include Bintulu District, which has 2 temporary shelters housing 380 people from 132 families; and Sibu District, which also has 2 temporary shelters accommodating 245 people from 66 families.
Meanwhile, Mukah District has 1 temporary shelter, housing 163 people from 45 families.
Miri District currently has 3 temporary shelters, accommodating 154 people from 38 families.
Overall, the Malaysian Civil Defence Force pointed out that the number of flood evacuees has started to show a downward trend.
The force has also advised residents in flood-prone areas to remain vigilant and to comply with issued evacuation instructions.
