Formal Opening of China to Hanoi, Vietnam International Road Transport Route

(Nanning/Kunming, 14th) The opening ceremony for the China to Hanoi, Vietnam international road transport route was held simultaneously in Nanning, Guangxi and Kunming, Yunnan on the 14th, marking the first time Chinese freight vehicles with Greater Mekong Subregion Cross-Border Transport Facilitation Agreement (CBTA) documents entered deep into Vietnam.

This event runs from May 14th to May 16th, transporting goods including electronic components, fresh vegetables, and general merchandise along two routes. Route one consists of a convoy of 12 trucks and one coach from Nanning, Guangxi, and Qingdao, Shandong. They are departing from Nanning Comprehensive Bonded Zone, exiting through Guangxi Freundschaft Pass, entering Vietnam through Vietnam’s Freundschaft Pass, passing through Lang Son, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, and finally reaching Hanoi, Vietnam. The total transportation distance is approximately 400 kilometers, with an estimated duration of 2 days. Route two consists of a convoy of 6 trucks and one coach from Kunming, departing from Kunming Comprehensive Bonded Zone, exiting through Yunnan Hekou Port, entering through Vietnam's Lao Cai Port, passing through Lao Cai, Yen Bai, and Phu Tho, and finally reaching Hanoi, Vietnam, with a total distance of about 700 kilometers, estimated to take 2 days.

This transport initiative achieves direct delivery from the origin to the consignee, realizing “door-to-door” and “point-to-point” direct transport. Compared to previous transportation modes, each truck can save approximately one day in time, and costs can be reduced by 800 to 1,000 yuan (RMB, the same applies hereafter), greatly improving transport efficiency and significantly lowering transport costs. The level of facilitation for international road transport between China and Vietnam has been further improved.

Next, China and Vietnam will conduct in-depth evaluations of the road transport conditions and risk factors affecting direct transport between the two countries, study and resolve issues impacting facilitated transport, and work to improve and enrich the cross-border transport system, promoting more convenient cross-border transport of goods and personnel.
