The World Youth Peace Conference was successfully held on July 29 in Beijing, China. In his congratulatory letter to the conference, Chinese President Xi Jinping called on young people around the world to promote the concept of peace and contribute to advancing peaceful development and building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Xi Jinping pointed out that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Eighty years ago, the Chinese people, together with people around the world, fought valiantly and finally defeated fascism, gaining hard-won peace.

Xi Jinping emphasized that the future of peace rests on the youth. He expressed hope that youth from all countries will take this conference as an opportunity to exchange ideas, deepen understanding, and build friendships; jointly become advocates of the concept of peace and actors for peaceful development, contributing wisdom and strength to building a community with a shared future for mankind.

At the conference, youth representatives from the five continents issued the "World Youth Peace Initiative" in their respective languages, expressing the shared voices of young people worldwide to cherish peace, safeguard unity, and join hands to address global challenges.

The full text of the "World Youth Peace Initiative" is as follows:

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War and the founding of the United Nations.

Eighty years ago, in the face of the dark and evil forces of fascism, people of different countries, nationalities, social systems, and ideologies united and, through immense sacrifice, won a victory for justice and peace, launching the prelude to rebuilding the postwar order and the pursuit of lasting peace.

For 80 years, under the themes of peace and development and driven by waves of technological innovation, humanity has achieved unprecedented prosperity in material civilization and an unparalleled degree of connectivity; we have increasingly become a community of shared destiny.

Today, eighty years later, the great changes unseen in a century are accelerating. The world, the era, and history are unfolding in unprecedented ways, and humanity again stands at a crossroads: unity or division, dialogue or confrontation, win-win or zero-sum.

As representatives of youth from all countries, we deeply understand the value of peace and the responsibilities of the younger generation. Only by cherishing peace and maintaining unity can humanity have a bright future. Therefore, we solemnly issue the "World Youth Peace Initiative", calling on youth across the globe to unite, safeguard peace, promote development, and create the future together.

We call on youth to be defenders of world peace. History must not be tampered with, justice must be defended, and peace must be safeguarded. Young people from all nations should draw wisdom from history, cherish peace through concrete action, defend peace, oppose all wars and violence, and reject all unilateralism, hegemonism, and protectionism. Together, we will uphold the outcomes of World War II, safeguard the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order based on international law, practice genuine multilateralism, and contribute youthful strength to maintaining world peace.

We call on youth to be pioneers of mutual learning among civilizations. Safeguarding world peace first requires building psychological barriers through thought. Young people in all countries should uphold equality, mutual learning, dialogue, and inclusiveness among civilizations, transcend barriers through exchanges, transcend clashes through mutual learning, and transcend superiority through coexistence, contributing youthful wisdom to the harmonious coexistence and mutual understanding of different civilizations and peoples.

We call on youth to be advocates of cooperation and win-win outcomes. Development is the cornerstone of peace. Young people in all countries should adhere to the concepts of cooperation, win-win, and joint development, make use of multilateral and regional platforms, deepen and broaden youth exchanges and cooperation, actively participate in the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the outcomes of the Summit of the Future, injecting youthful momentum into bridging global development gaps and achieving a more inclusive and universally beneficial global development.

We call on youth to be actors in tackling climate change. Climate change threatens the common home of humankind. Young people from all countries should embrace the spirit of "Together for Our Planet," actively participate in global climate change responses, display youthful responsibility in finding innovative solutions to global climate challenges, improving global ecological governance, and jointly facing global challenges.

We call on youth to be promoters of technology for good. Technological advancement brings both opportunities and challenges for world peace. Young people in all countries should stand at the forefront of emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, bravely shoulder responsibilities, facilitate technological achievements for the benefit of all humanity and inclusive development of digital technologies, provide youthful solutions for improving global technology governance and building an inclusive, just, and sustainable global future.

Eighty years ago, our predecessors illuminated darkness with unity; eighty years later, it is up to youth to define the future with action. We will take the 80th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War and the founding of the United Nations as a new starting point, "Together for Peace," and work hand in hand to build a community with a shared future for mankind!
