A Thai nursing student who was supposed to celebrate her birthday tragically lost her life while rescuing others. 22-year-old Jirawadee, on the early morning of her birthday, stopped at the scene of a multi-vehicle accident and got out to help. She stood in the middle of the road signaling for other vehicles to avoid the site, but was struck and killed instantly by a speeding car.
According to Thai media 'Thaiger,' the accident occurred at around 3:30 a.m. on the 29th on a highway in Chonburi province heading toward Pattaya. The accident involved five vehicles, resulting in three deaths and five injuries.
Eyewitnesses stated that it began when a Toyota sedan lost control, successively hitting a truck and another car and crashing into the roadside guardrail, leaving one person seriously injured, who later died from their wounds.
Jirawadee, who was passing the scene, stopped her car and immediately called for help, then walked to the center of the road to wave at oncoming cars, warning them to slow down to prevent another collision.
However, a car traveling at high speed was unable to stop in time and directly struck her, killing her on the spot.
According to her husband, the two had planned to go out that night to celebrate her birthday, but tragedy struck instead. He himself was seriously injured in the accident and is being treated at Chonburi Hospital.
Jirawadee’s body has been claimed by her family, and a funeral has been held at Phra Phong Temple in Si Racha District. Police stated they are further investigating the speed of the car involved and the cause of the accident.
