【Natural Gas Pipe Explosion】DAP Fundraising Exceeds 500,000 Li Zhengxian: MCA's Sabotage Fails

Li Zhengxian, National Deputy Organization Secretary of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), stated that since the fundraising initiated on April 2 for Putra Heights in Selangor, the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) has been attempting to skew public opinion, not only with sarcasm but also with malicious comments, in an effort to sabotage DAP's efforts to assist the disaster victims.

Li Zhengxian explained that the fundraising campaign faced a barrage of slander and attacks initially, encountering significant obstacles, and the fundraising amount was relatively slow. However, as more and more righteous friends and supporters continued to explain and expose the malicious intentions, the fundraising exceeded the 500,000 mark by the fifth day, and he believes the amount will continue to increase.

"I want to remind MCA not to underestimate DAP’s determination to assist the disaster victims. The more you attempt to sabotage, the more successful the fundraising becomes, because we always believe that Malaysia is a society that helps each other, adhering to the spirit of mutual aid in times of disaster."

He pointed out that DAP Secretary-General Loke Siew Fook has already explained that the campaign was launched at the request of supporters, primarily because many people who wished to donate lacked a suitable channel to extend their support. Therefore, DAP is willing to take up this responsibility, gathering everyone’s goodwill to pass it on to the victims, helping them overcome difficulties as soon as possible.

He mentioned that some opposing parties questioned why DAP needed to raise funds as part of the government. Those who hold such views certainly still harbor the old habit of “party funds equating to national treasury” from previous administrations. From the federal government to the municipal government, assistance has been continuously provided since the fire broke out, which is the work that the government must and should do. As a party that upholds humanitarian principles, DAP must also fulfill its social responsibilities, aiding the victims to the best of its ability, and there is no contradiction between the two. Therefore, he dismisses MCA's malicious attacks with disdain.

He reminds everyone that the victims are already in great pain facing the disaster, and what should be done now is finding ways to help them overcome difficulties. Society needs more goodwill and less conspiracy for it to become better.
