A wife called the police after claiming her husband made her do housework, leaving her no time to create Reels videos, which she blamed for losing two Instagram followers. She was so upset that she left home and went to the police station to file a complaint.
According to The Independent, a woman named Nisha from Uttar Pradesh, India, was very dedicated to managing her Instagram account, consistently producing two Reels videos a day. However, her husband, Vijayendra, was dissatisfied with her excessive focus on social media. He felt that Nisha was spending too much time on it and asked her to allocate some time to household chores.
While the woman initially chose to comply with her husband's request and paused her video-making, she soon discovered that she had lost two followers within just a few days. This caused her to become extremely emotional.
She believed it was her husband’s demand for her to do housework that delayed her video uploads, leading to the decline in her follower count. In a fit of anger, she moved back to her parents' house and reported the matter to the Harpur district's women's police station.
“Because my husband asked me to spend time washing dishes and cleaning, I didn’t have time to make short videos, which caused my follower count to drop,” the woman reportedly stated in her complaint.
Police officials stated that after hearing the husband's explanation, they intervened to mediate and provided counseling for the couple. Subsequently, Nisha withdrew her complaint, though the couple remains separated.
