7 Years Without Filming! Emma Watson Candidly Reveals Which Aspect of Showbiz She Hates Most

35-year-old British actress Emma Watson rose to fame by playing 'Hermione' in the hit movie series adapted from the bestselling novel, 'Harry Potter'. However, in recent years she has almost vanished from the big screen, with her last appearance being in 2019’s ‘Little Women’. It has now been 7 years since she took on a new film. Recently, Emma herself revealed her reasons for stepping away from acting.
She entered the film industry at the age of 10, but both in her work and personal life, she has always had to bear the pressure of her public image. She admitted, “I need to constantly manage and package myself, which is extremely draining.” After setting aside her identity as an actress, she finally felt liberated, able to truly enjoy her roles as a family member, daughter, sister, and friend, and have time for her own independent thinking and creativity. She says that she now finally understands the most important things in life are family and friends, and laments that she once worked so hard that parts of her life completely collapsed.

Speaking about her hiatus from acting in recent years, she admitted she still misses the days on set, but greatly dislikes travelling around to promote films. She bluntly said, “I don’t miss it at all, nor do I want to promote my work again, it really crushed my soul.”
Reportedly, Emma is now pursuing a master's degree in Creative Writing at Oxford University, while also actively engaging in climate change issues and international social movements.
