Digital Minister Gobind Singh pointed out that the ministry is accelerating the implementation of the National Digital Identity (MyDigital ID) and the second 5G network project, striving to ensure that a decision on these topics can be made at the Digital Economy and Industry 4.0 Council (MED4IRN) meeting on February 12.
He said the National Digital Identity and the second 5G network project have been delayed so far. He admitted that there are certain challenges in implementing these digitalization measures as they involve multiple departments and related entities.
He said this at the launch of the Malaysia Digital Tour event on Sunday (January 12th).
On December 5th, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar expressed disappointment over the delay in implementing MyDigital ID and the second 5G network, stating the negotiation on the project failed to receive positive responses from the National Digital Company (DNB) and telecom companies.
Additionally, Gobind Singh pointed out that the ministry is identifying the challenges and issues faced by micro and small to medium enterprises (SMEs) in advancing business digitalization.

He stated that through the "Malaysia Digital Tour Event" held by the ministry, it is expected to collect feedback from these enterprises within the first quarter of the year.
“97% of businesses nationwide are SMEs, which is a considerable proportion. Why are some businesses still uninterested in using technology to improve their operations? Therefore, through this tour and in cooperation with various parties including state governments, it will help us better understand the existing problems and make recommendations to the government to assist these SMEs.”
On November 18th last year, Gobind Singh mentioned that the ministry discussed with the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development the cooperation to formulate new policies to assist SMEs in achieving digitalization in their businesses.
