In the case of several shots fired at Setia City Mall, the police have identified the shooter as being in his 30s and stated that the suspect has a total of 11 prior criminal convictions.
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein issued a statement noting that the police have launched a manhunt, and the motive behind the crime is pending further investigation.
Hussein stated that the shooting occurred on Saturday (February 8) at 10 PM, resulting in injuries to a cleaner. "He was shot in the leg and hip."
He said the police investigation suggested the suspect is believed to be a local. He went to the P2 level of the mall and fired several shots at the sliding door, then proceeded to the parking lot.
The suspect attempted to intercept a mall customer and fired a shot at the customer's car.
After failing to intercept, the gunman continued to stop a second car and forced the driver to drive him away from the scene.

“While on the Shah Alam Expressway, the gunman suddenly demanded the driver to stop at Bandar Mahkota, then got out of the vehicle and fled the scene.”
He stated that the police found a total of 10 shell casings on the stairs and in the parking lot of the mall.
Earlier reports suggested that an armed robber attempted to break in during a jewelry store's closing hours while counting jewelry, but Hussein indicated that preliminary police investigations show the shooting is unrelated to the jewelry store.
“However, we do not rule out the possibility that the suspect planned to do so.”
