KUCHING, Aug 5: Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi has clarified that the circulation of a document bearing his name and signature regarding a so-called ‘gratuity payment’ to an individual is fake.

In a statement issued today, he added that the letter, dated July 28 of this year and purportedly issued by the Ministry of Works, was never issued by the ministry or himself in his capacity as its minister.

He also said that the ministry has never issued any official invitation or correspondence pertaining to such a gratuity payment ceremony.

“Accordingly, I strongly urge members of the public not to be misled by such documents, which are clearly fraudulent and constitute an act of impersonation.

“The ministry has taken cognisance of the matter and is cooperating with the relevant authorities to facilitate further investigation,” he said.

He further advised members of the public who have doubts regarding the authenticity of any document or communication allegedly issued by the Ministry of Works to verify through official channels via the ministry’s website or by contacting its official hotline.

“Ensuring transparency and safeguarding the integrity of administrative processes remain the ministry’s utmost priorities,” he said.
