(Bau, Feb 2) – The tender for the construction of the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Integrated Complex located at Serikin, Bau has been completed.
BiLu District Councilor Datuk Henry Gina stated that the tender process was completed in mid-December 2025, and the contractor has begun site clearing activities.
He told reporters during the Spring Festival decoration lighting ceremony held in Bau town on Sunday (Feb 1): “The contractor has visited the project site and site clearing work has commenced.”
Henry, who is also the Deputy Minister of Transport (River Transport and Maritime), said that the project is expected to be completed by 2028, and will transform Bau into a vibrant new commercial center.
He added that the ICQS Integrated Complex construction will be accompanied by related infrastructure works, including improvements to road connectivity and upgrading of the water supply system.
“During the contractor’s construction period, we are also addressing issues concerning water sources and road connectivity.
Our Jagoi water supply project is ongoing, and water leakage issues in some areas have been identified and repaired. We are continuing to check for leaks caused by old pipelines,” he said.
Regarding road connectivity, Henry stated that the authorities are giving this matter high priority.
“As for the roads leading to the ICQS, we are studying them carefully because we don’t want the roads to take up land in existing villages and cause traffic congestion. Therefore, we need to plan a bypass,” he explained.
