Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, Ding Xuexiang, stated on Saturday (March 7) that during the recently concluded 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021 to 2025), China has experienced an extremely unusual and extraordinary development journey. The country's economic strength, technological strength, defense capabilities, and overall national power have all risen to new heights, and the practice of “One Country, Two Systems” has achieved a series of breakthrough progress and landmark results.
According to official media Xinhua News Agency, on Saturday Ding Xuexiang participated in the deliberations of the Hong Kong and Macau delegations at the Fourth Session of the 14th National People’s Congress.
After listening to the speeches of Hong Kong and Macau’s National People’s Congress deputies, Ding Xuexiang made the above remarks, emphasizing that Hong Kong and Macau should actively align themselves with the national 15th Five-Year Plan (2026 to 2030), better integrate into and serve the overall development of the country, and create a new situation of high-quality development for the “One Country, Two Systems” cause, making greater contributions to advancing Chinese-style modernization.
With the Hong Kong delegation, Ding Xuexiang called for accelerating the transition from governance to prosperity, continuously consolidating and enhancing its status as an international financial, shipping, and trade center; fully leveraging its advantages in education, science and technology, and talent; actively cultivating new platforms and new drivers of growth; and promoting Hong Kong’s long-term prosperity and stability.
With the Macau delegation, Ding Xuexiang called for solidly promoting appropriately diversified economic development, advancing the construction of the Hengqin Guangdong-Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone, effectively leveraging the cluster effect of industrial agglomeration, and continuing to highlight the roles of “one center, one platform, one base.”
Ding Xuexiang also fully recognized the work of Hong Kong and Macau’s National People’s Congress deputies, hoping that they will continue to fulfill their duties with dedication and ambition, fully support the governments of the special administrative regions, unite all sectors of society, and jointly promote Hong Kong and Macau’s prosperity and development to reach a new level.
