On the 24th, International Criminal Court Prosecutor Karim Khan was dismissed due to accusations of "serious misconduct" and "grave dereliction of duty."

The Assembly of States Parties, which is the ICC's oversight and legislative body, held a meeting at the United Nations headquarters in New York on the 24th to vote on Karim Khan's future. Out of 125 State Parties to the "Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court", 82 voted to remove Khan from office.

Assembly President Cochrane stated that the Assembly determined that Karim Khan had engaged in "serious misconduct" and "grave dereliction of duty," and therefore decided to dismiss him from his position as Prosecutor.

Karim Khan was accused of misconduct involving a female subordinate.

Karim Khan is a British lawyer who began serving as ICC Prosecutor in 2021. In May 2024, he applied to the ICC for arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, then Israeli Defense Minister Gallant, and three Hamas leaders.
