Incident Involving Female Fan is a Personal Violation — Thai Tourism Minister: No Discrimination Based on Nationality

Regarding the recent incident where a Chinese female tourist allegedly violated onsite rules and sparked a conflict during a fan meeting event in Thailand, Thai Minister of Tourism and Sports, Sudarat, stated bluntly that this incident should be defined as “a conflict caused by an individual's failure to abide by event rules,” not a nationality issue, and that there is no differential treatment.

According to comprehensive reports from Thai media, Sudarat said that Thai authorities have launched an investigation, but emphasized that any tourist, regardless of their country of origin, is subject to the same handling by organizers if they violate event rules.

“If a Thai person attends an event abroad and violates the rules, I believe local staff would take the same measures. Therefore, this incident should not be sensationalized as a diplomatic or ethnic dispute.”

She emphasized that Thailand welcomes tourists from all over the world, but only welcomes those who respect the law and obey the rules.

She stressed that Thailand has never discriminated against tourists of any nationality, but for those who intentionally create chaos, disturb others, or even insult the Thai people and nation after entering Thailand, such behavior will never be accepted.

Sudarat also made it clear that if the investigation confirms no fault on the Thai side, the government will definitely defend the rights of the people and will not back down just because the opposing party is a foreign tourist.

“The government will not tolerate lawbreakers, no matter which country they come from.”

She stated that tourists may purchase Thai goods and services with their spending, but can never buy privilege above the Thai people.

She emphasized that the tourism industry welcomes tourists who spend, but spending power is not a pass to challenge the rules.
