The summit between the leaders of China and South Korea took place on the afternoon of the 5th. According to the Chinese side, Chinese President Xi Jinping mentioned the two countries' history of victory against Japanese aggression, urging South Korea to firmly stand on the correct side of history and make the right strategic choice. He said China and South Korea should work together to safeguard the achievements of victory in World War II and protect peace and stability in Northeast Asia. Lee Jae-myung stated that South Korea respects China's core interests and major concerns and adheres to the "one China" principle.

Lee Jae-myung arrived in Beijing on the 4th for a four-day, three-night state visit. According to CCTV, on the afternoon of the 5th, President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan held a welcoming ceremony for Lee Jae-myung and his wife in the North Hall of the Great Hall of the People. Afterwards, Xi and Lee held talks and jointly witnessed the signing of cooperation documents.

According to CCTV News, Xi Jinping stated that he and Lee Jae-myung had met twice and made reciprocal visits. China is willing to work with South Korea to firmly grasp the direction of friendly cooperation, adhere to the principle of mutual benefit and win-win outcomes, promote the China-South Korea strategic cooperative partnership along a healthy track, truly enhance the well-being of the two peoples, and provide positive momentum for regional and even global peace and development.

Xi Jinping believes that the two sides should continuously strengthen mutual trust, take care of each other's core interests and major concerns, and insist on resolving differences properly through dialogue and consultation. He mentioned that the 15th Five-Year Plan proposals outline a blueprint for China's development over the next five years, bringing opportunities for all countries. China and South Korea have close economic ties and deeply intertwined industrial and supply chains. The two should strengthen alignment of development strategies and policy coordination, achieve more cooperation results in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, green industry, and the silver economy, and further enhance people-to-people exchanges.

Against the backdrop of recent international turmoil, especially tense China-Japan relations and U.S. attacks on Venezuela, Xi Jinping told Lee Jae-myung that the current changes not seen in a century are accelerating, the international situation is becoming more turbulent and intertwined, and China and South Korea shoulder important responsibilities in maintaining regional peace and promoting global development. The two share broad common interests and should firmly stand on the right side of history and make the right strategic choices.

Xi Jinping pointed out that more than 80 years ago, China and South Korea made great national sacrifices to achieve victory against Japanese militarism, and today they should join hands to safeguard the fruits of that victory and protect the peace and stability of Northeast Asia. As beneficiaries of economic globalization, China and South Korea should work together to oppose protectionism, practice true multilateralism, and contribute to advancing equal and orderly multipolarization and inclusive economic globalization.

According to the Chinese side, Lee Jae-myung also mentioned that China and South Korea had jointly resisted Japanese militarist aggression. He stated that South Korea highly values its relationship with China and, with the first head-of-state diplomacy of the new year as an opportunity, is willing to consolidate the comprehensive recovery and development trend of China-South Korea relations, seek common ground while reserving differences, deepen the China-South Korea strategic cooperative partnership, and jointly open up a new chapter in bilateral relations.

Lee Jae-myung also said: "South Korea respects China's core interests and major concerns and adheres to the one China principle." He affirmed that China-South Korea economic and trade cooperation has played a positive role in the economic and social development of both countries and looked forward to seizing the opportunities brought by China's 15th Five-Year Plan.

According to CCTV, after the talks, Xi and Lee jointly witnessed the signing of 15 cooperation documents in fields including scientific and technological innovation, ecological environment, transportation, and economic and trade cooperation.
