(Kuching, 18th) The Sarawak Basic Needs Assistance Scheme (SKAS) aid funds will begin to be distributed gradually from today in batches via S Pay Global, with a total of 886,288 individuals eligible for assistance across Sarawak.

Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari stated at the launch ceremony of this aid program in Serian today that, as of today, 564,099 recipients or 63.6% have successfully registered with Sarawak Pay.

For those who have not yet registered and are eligible, the premier also urged them to complete the registration as soon as possible so that they can receive the aid smoothly.

“The Sarawak government hopes to alleviate the living burden of low-income groups through this aid, helping them cope with the rising cost of living. They can use the electronic wallet S Pay to purchase essential food and necessities.”

Abang Johari also mentioned that during his visit to the Serian market, he observed that the people and vendors are generally familiar with using Sarawak Pay for transactions. Some vendors have also expressed their appreciation for the convenience of the e-wallet.

He noted that this also demonstrates Sarawakians' competence in technology, including the registration of the Sarawak ID, with the number of registered users having reached 1.5 million.

To ensure that those eligible successfully register and benefit, he remarked that a team led by the Sarawak Government Secretary is actively reaching out to the grassroots to assist people in registering, ensuring they can all benefit.
