Brunei National Day Opening Ceremony – Giant Flag Raising Ceremony

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 14th) The opening ceremony for Brunei’s 42nd National Day celebration officially kicked off today. The event was held at the open plaza of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex in the capital, featuring a giant national flag raising ceremony to commemorate the nation’s founding anniversary.

The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Nazmi, attended the event as the Guest of Honour in his capacity as Co-Chairman of the Executive Committee for the 42nd National Day Celebration.

Also in attendance were the Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee, Legislative Council members, Permanent Secretaries, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, district officials, as well as members of the executive and other committees involved in organizing the celebrations, who joined in the grand occasion.

The ceremony officially commenced after the recitation of prayers. Following this, personnel from the Royal Brunei Navy, as well as a flag escort team composed of members from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Royal Brunei Police Force, Fire and Rescue Department trainees, and National Service Programme alumni, marched onto the venue, received the giant national flag from the Guest of Honour, creating a solemn and grand atmosphere.
