(Miri, 12th) The Miri Maritime Enforcement Agency conducted a crackdown operation in the waters of Kuala Lawas, approximately 5.6 nautical miles from the coast yesterday morning, and subsequently detained one violating fishing vessel.
Miri Maritime Enforcement Agency Director Mohd Khairol Anuar bin Saad stated that the agency was patrolling the aforementioned waters around 5 a.m. yesterday when they discovered the fishing vessel, which was unable to present legitimate documents during the investigation.
It is reported that the four individuals on board the vessel ranged in age from 21 to 62. The agency subsequently took the vessel and crew back to the Miri Maritime Enforcement Agency's detention center dock for holding.
The agency remains committed to enforcing the law in Malaysian waters and will not compromise on any illegal activities occurring within these waters.
