(Miri, 12th)A total of 36 orphans and asnaf (students) from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Bekenu received donations in conjunction with Ramadan here last night.
The donation was presented by the Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak, Datuk Dr Annuar Rapa'ee.
Annuar when met by Utusan Sarawak said that the donation was for the orphans and asnaf and to break the fast with them and the teaching staff of SMK Bekenu.
"This donation was organized by Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak to help orphans and asnaf who need financial assistance, especially to cover expenses during the month of Ramadan.
"It is hoped that this donation can help reduce their burden," he said.
He said this after the Breaking the Fast Ceremony at SMK Bekenu last night.
At the ceremony, he had time to visit and inspect the condition of the roof of one of the school buildings which was damaged and quite dangerous for the staff at the school.
