[Military Procurement Tender Money Laundering Case] Former Army Commander’s Wife Faces Another Charge

(Kuala Terengganu, 26th) The wife of former Army Commander Tan Sri Mohamad Hafizuddin, Sawani, denied guilt in Kuala Terengganu Sessions Court on Monday (January 26) when faced with a charge for receiving RM5,000 in proceeds from illegal activities last year.

27-year-old Sawani pleaded not guilty and requested a trial after hearing the charges read by Judge Mohamad Azhar.

According to the charge, Sawani is accused of receiving RM5,000 in proceeds from illegal activities on January 16, 2025, through her account at a bank branch located in Geti.

Sawani arrived at the court at 8:25 AM wearing a white shirt and a black headscarf. Due to a chronic abscess on her thigh, she needed to use a wheelchair to enter the court building.

Last Thursday (January 22), Sawani was charged with four counts of money laundering at the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's Court for allegedly receiving RM77,000 in illegal proceeds. She pleaded not guilty at that time as well, and Judge Rosli allowed her to be released on bail of RM30,000 with two sureties and additional conditions as requested by the prosecution, with a mention date set for March 30th to submit documents.
