(Kapit, 23rd) Police have arrested two brothers suspected of stabbing to death a DJ at an entertainment venue on Jalan Tun Jugah, Kapit, last Thursday.
According to TVS News, Kapit District Police Chief Deputy Superintendent Rohana stated that the suspects, aged 30 and 36, were arrested on September 19, a few days after the incident.
"One of the suspects confessed to stabbing the victim with a sharp weapon, while the other was present at the scene." She stated this in a statement on Monday (22nd).
The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Patrick Alvin Jeffery. Reports said that around 10:30pm that night, he staggered into the entertainment venue covered in blood, sought help from people, then collapsed.
He was rushed to Kapit Hospital, but due to severe injuries to his chest and right armpit, was pronounced dead after attempts to resuscitate him failed.
"A post-mortem conducted at Sibu Hospital confirmed the cause of death was a stab wound to the heart." Rohana said.
Police also seized several items from the suspects and have detained them further to assist with the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code (murder).
"Preliminary investigations show that the motive behind the attack likely stemmed from personal grievances," she added.
