Ren Jialun Steals the Show with Double Awards; Li Chen Reflects on Emotional Homecoming

The 2026 Weibo Cultural Exchange Night Malaysia Station successfully concluded on the 1st at the Idea Live Arena in Kuala Lumpur. As a grand cross-national cultural event featuring dozens of well-known celebrities from China, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam, the event once again built a bridge of friendship through a diverse lineup of stars and spectacular stage performances. Chinese actor Ren Jialun made a grand finale appearance on the red carpet and swept up two awards, with his heartwarming story about his Malaysian university roommate becoming the focal point of the evening.

Amid the anticipation of the audience, Ren Jialun appeared last on the red carpet in a black suit with slicked-back hair, exuding an impressive aura. Upon his arrival at Kuala Lumpur airport before the event, he walked nearly 300 meters to warmly interact with fans, fully demonstrating his "top-tier fan-favorite" status. In an interview, he revealed for the first time that during university, he lived with his Malaysian roommate Lu Xinyou (Ash) for two to three years. Their memories of cooking curry and pasta together made this trip to Malaysia feel both familiar and novel to him. Thanks to his immense popularity and outstanding talent, Ren Jialun lived up to expectations and won both the "Weibo Malaysia Annual Most Influential All-round Artist" and the "Weibo Malaysia Annual Most Influential Actor" awards, becoming the only double award winner of the night.

Li Chen appeared on the red carpet in an elegantly tailored purple suit, radiating gentle charm. He shared that his first trip abroad was to Malaysia, when his family got him his first passport as a reward for being admitted to performing arts school. More than 30 years later, he returned with deep emotion, reflecting on his journey from a young boy to where he is today.

Bosco Wong, meanwhile, showed up on the red carpet in a mint green jacket, described as a “Hong Kong-style leading man,” displaying mature charm in his expressions. During an interview, he greeted Malaysian audiences in Cantonese and shared updates about his new projects, which include comedies, police dramas, and period pieces. He also humorously responded to invitations to sing and dance.

There were also exciting moments of cross-cultural interaction at the event. Li Hao learned how to express love to his fans in Malay from the host, while Wang Herun charmed everyone with her playful Northeastern Chinese dialect. Meanwhile, Ah Niu and Jess Lee both expressed their heartfelt feelings towards their homeland, with Ah Niu saying “my homeland warms my heart” and Jess Lee moved by the opportunity to “sing at home.” This grand event, blending local sentiment and international vision, added a vibrant new chapter to Malaysia-China cultural exchange amidst laughter and applause.
