Huang Yang Tian's Million Yuan Earrings Spark Controversy Former Civil Servant Father Clarifies: I'm Not a Corrupt Official

17-year-old Chinese actress Huang Yang Tian recently shared her coming-of-age outfit on Weibo, featuring emerald earrings that are reportedly worth 2.3 million RMB (approximately 1.36 million MYR), sparking external doubts about her former civil servant father possibly being involved in corruption. In response, Huang Yang Tian's father, Yang Wei, and her management company urgently stepped forward to clarify.

Yang Wei was previously a public servant in Ya'an City, Sichuan Province, responsible for bidding and tendering work, including bids for earthquake reconstruction projects. Due to his daughter's display of wealth "causing trouble," there is public suspicion that "as a civil servant, the family's income should not be so high," suspecting that Yang Wei might be involved in corruption. In response, he issued a statement on Weibo, emphasizing that the jewelry his daughter wore is not genuine, and the value is much lower than the rumored sky-high prices. "I solemnly promise that during my work, I did not commit any violations or criminal acts, let alone embezzling funds for post-disaster reconstruction as some netizens claim," stressing that he is not a corrupt official.

Is the younger brother an unauthorized birth?

Huang Yang Tian's management company also issued a statement, emphasizing, "Our company, Ms. Huang Yang Tian, and her parents are willing to be subject to reasonable public scrutiny, but we will not tolerate any malicious rumor-mongering infringements. We urge everyone not to believe or spread rumors." However, this issue has ignited another controversy, with netizens claiming that Huang Yang Tian's younger brother was born in 2011, while China fully lifted the one-child policy in 2016. Yang Wei served as a public servant from 2011 to 2017, and is suspected of violating the birth regulations. According to the policy at that time, public employees found violating birth control regulations could face dismissal and other penalties. Some netizens believe that Huang Yang Tian follows her grandmother's surname "Huang" (while her parents are surnamed Yang and Si, respectively) to circumvent household registration loopholes, allowing her brother to be legally registered. #
