A 20-story apartment building in the Bronx, New York City, partially collapsed on the 1st, with no reports of casualties so far.
Photos released by the New York City Fire Department on social media show that one corner of the apartment building collapsed completely from the roof to the ground, but the main structure of the building was not damaged.
The New York City Emergency Management Department, responsible for coordinating interagency emergency affairs, said on social media that the fire department is continuing emergency response efforts. Police are conducting safety enforcement and closing roads at the scene. Relevant departments have cut off the gas supply associated with the affected building, and a temporary shelter has been set up at a community center.
The fire department received reports that a gas explosion caused the building's garbage incinerator chimney shaft to collapse. The cause of the incident is currently under investigation.
