(Kuching 20th) A man who was driving while flaunting a pistol to “show off” was arrested by the police at his doorstep just hours later, confirming that the pistol was a replica.
On Thursday, a video circulated on social media showing a man driving while holding an object resembling a gun. His arm was hanging out of the car window at the time. The incident was captured by the public, although it was unclear whether the man was holding a real or fake gun.
According to information, the incident occurred on Thursday (19th), at around 5 PM, on Tun Ahmad Zaidi Road, in front of the Youth and Sports Department Multi-Purpose Complex in Kuching, Sarawak. At the time, it was rush hour, and the road was severely congested.

Furthermore, the suspect was brought to court on Friday (June 20th) to extend his detention and was approved for an additional three days of detainment, until June 22nd.
The police are investigating the case under Section 36(1) of the 1960 Arms Act. Under this section, if convicted, the suspect may face imprisonment of no more than one year, or a fine not exceeding RM 5,000, or both.
The Kuching District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ahsmon Bajah, stated that the man's urine test was positive, indicating prior drug use. The man also has two prior criminal records.
