44-year-old Hollywood actress Natalie Portman and French musician and music producer Tanguy Destable have been steadily dating. Recently, she confirmed in an interview with fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar that the two are expecting a child together. “Both Tanguy and I are very excited. I’m truly very grateful—I know this is a privilege, and it’s a miracle.”
Natalie’s father is a reproductive medicine specialist, so she has known since childhood that pregnancy is never easy. “Many people I love around me have gone through difficult processes, so I also want to approach this with respect. It’s a beautiful and joyful thing, but at the same time, not easy.” She added, “I know how lucky I am. I’m very aware of it, and very grateful.”
Natalie has a son and daughter with her ex-husband. She said, “That sense of gratitude you might not, and probably can’t, fully appreciate when you’re younger is now so much clearer to me. At the same time, I feel calmer and more in touch with myself—knowing who I want to be with, what kind of energy I want around me, and making each day of this experience wonderful. And since I know this might be the last time, I’m cherishing every moment.”
In recent years, she has been living in France, and she is thoroughly enjoying her time in Paris during pregnancy. “The weather in spring is just lovely; I can stroll in the parks here and visit art exhibitions, just the sort of things you’d do when not working.” She feels in great shape, currently maintaining her energy through swimming and Gyrotonic, and spends a lot of time with her children. “That will always be the best thing.”
