(Bandar Seri Begawan. 29th) The Magistrate's Court sentenced a 39-year-old Bangladeshi man to six months in prison and three strokes of the cane for violating immigration laws.

According to Chapter 17, Section 15(1) of the Immigration Act, the man overstayed in the country after his immigration pass was revoked. The sentence was the result of a coordinated second operation by the Royal Brunei Police Force in the Belait District.

During this operation, two people were investigated, and one foreigner was detained for failing to produce original documents.

The authorities continue to remind the public to comply with the Immigration Act and encourage anyone with information on immigration violators to contact the department's hotline.
