(Kuching, 2nd) Manwang Paintball Club (KPM) clinched the runner-up title in the 2025 NXL European Paintball Championship, marking a glorious achievement for Malaysia, especially Sarawak, and letting the national flag fly high on the international stage. The tournament was held in Dreux, France, from August 27 to 31.
Under KPM, Team K Troopers attained the runner-up position in the Division 4 X-Ball category, proving that Malaysian paintball athletes are capable of standing out in the world’s top competitions.
According to a statement on Monday (September 1), this year’s championship saw more than 200 teams from 30 countries participating, making it one of the most fiercely competitive events for both professional and amateur paintball enthusiasts.
Malaysia sent a total of seven teams across multiple categories, including KPM, K Troopers (Division 4 X-Ball), Unknown (Division 4 X-Ball), Thunderstorm (WNXL 3v3), RASKAL Avengers (Amateur 3v3), Sekito (Amateur 3v3), and Malaysia Women (UPBF Women’s Open X-Ball).
KPM, located in Kampung Manwang along Jalan Borneo Heights, Padawan, is Sarawak’s first paintball club officially registered and licensed by the Malaysian Sports Commissioner. This international success further validates the club’s ability not just in domestic competitions, but also to bring honor to the country.
Malaysian delegation leader and team manager Muhammad Morsidi Abdullah described this achievement as a special gift for Malaysia’s 68th Independence Day.
“This victory is the result of our players’ sacrifices and relentless effort. Before heading to France, we underwent intensive preparations, including tactical training and skill honing to ensure a strong performance,” he said.
Morsidi revealed that France’s cold climate posed great challenges to the team’s physical endurance and focus, while light rain and strong winds disrupted the matches multiple times. Nevertheless, the players persevered with determination and fighting spirit to the very end, achieving excellent results.
He hopes that this breakthrough can inspire more Malaysian youths to take part in paintball and also attract more recognition and support from the authorities and sponsors to help local teams reach world-class standards.
