(Miri, 7th) In order to strengthen community awareness of health and the dissemination of basic first aid skills, the Miri Red Crescent Society is actively promoting the importance of health awareness, inviting volunteers and group organizations to collaborate, and join the ranks of community health education.
On the afternoon of the 5th of this month, the association held a briefing session at the Miri Red Crescent activity room to explain the content and execution process of the tasks to participating volunteers and relevant teams, ensuring that all units can cooperate smoothly and excel in the upcoming health activities, allowing for effective collaboration.
The main volunteer work this time is centered around four blood donation events, namely the 5th “I Love Sarawak Day” blood donation event on July 22, as well as on August 10, September 27, and 28, during which there will be various health check and emergency demonstration counters at the scene.
These basic health checks include blood pressure, blood sugar, breast examinations, demonstrations of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillator (AED) operation demonstrations, first aid knowledge explanations, and interactive teaching.
This initiative not only focuses on health checks, but also emphasizes the long-term promotion of public health awareness and the development of emergency response capabilities, especially in sudden medical emergencies, elevating the public’s ability to react immediately.
The Miri Red Crescent hopes that through a variety of health volunteer tasks, combined with the strength of local youth and groups, first aid knowledge can be spread to every corner of the community, enhancing the public’s basic awareness and response ability to health prevention, jointly promoting the goal of "Everyone knows first aid, everyone cares about health."
Participating organizations include Miri Tai Pu Association Youth Group, Miri Chiang Hsia Wong Clan Association Youth Group, Miri Youth Activity Centre, North Sarawak Journalists Association, Miri Broadcasting Station Leisure Club, Miri Province Guang Hui Zhao Association Youth Group, Miri Xingyang Zheng Clan Association Youth Group, Miri Tan Clan Association Youth Group, Miri Music Society, Miri Zhuang Yan Clan Association Youth Group, Riam International Junior Chamber, PETRONAS Petrol Station Special Task Force (SW04), Tong Cheng Fa Rice Trade Ltd., and others.
