(Serian, 26th) Police yesterday (February 25) arrested a local woman suspected of operating online gambling activities during an inspection at a shop.
Serian District Police Chief, Superintendent Freddy Bin Stanislaus Bien, stated that officers from the Criminal Investigation Unit carried out the operation at about 11 a.m. and apprehended the suspect.
He said the police have detained the suspect and seized several items to assist further investigation.
"This case is being investigated under Section 4B(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953. If convicted, the offender may be fined up to RM100,000, or imprisoned for up to 5 years, or both," he said.
Freddy added that the police will continue to intensify enforcement actions against illegal gambling activities in the area.
