KUCHING: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) Sarawak issued a total of 26 non-compliance notices for various offences to road users here yesterday.
They were among 32 commercial vehicles inspected during a special operation, codenamed Ops Khas Gempur Kenderaan Perdagangan.
JPJ Sarawak said the operation, conducted by their Kuching Branch Operations Unit, was aimed at curbing overloaded lorries that pose safety risks to road users and cause damage to road infrastructure.
“Among the offences detected were carrying excessive loads (three cases), violating Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board (LPKP) permit conditions (three cases), and failing to produce valid Speed Limit Device certification (three cases).
“The remaining cases involved various technical and documentation offences,” the department said in a statement.
Earlier, the operation involved seven enforcement officers and personnel, who carried out inspections at several locations around Kuching.
JPJ Sarawak said strict action will continue to be taken against operators and drivers of commercial vehicles who fail to comply with road transport laws.
The department also urged members of the public to report any misconduct by road users — with photo or video evidence — through its official channels such as e-Aduan@JPJ (MyJPJ app), SiSPAA, email at p.sarawak@jpj.gov.my, or by calling 082-373000.
