(Bandar Seri Begawan, 9th) To further enhance the emergency response capabilities of the Fire and Rescue Department, the government has officially handed over 10 phase-one hydraulic aerial ladder fire trucks, marking one of the key initiatives to elevate the level of nationwide fire and rescue operations.
This move reflects the Ministry of Home Affairs’ ongoing commitment to providing firefighters with modern equipment and resources, thereby supporting them to perform their duties efficiently and safely.
With the introduction of these new vehicles, the Brunei Fire and Rescue Department believes its emergency preparedness and operational capacity will be further strengthened, thereby helping realize its vision—to become a world-class fire and rescue institution through professionalism, full preparedness, and excellent service.
The handover ceremony was graced and officiated by Minister of Home Affairs Dato Awang Haji Ahmaddin. As a symbol of the formal commissioning, the minister also presided over the ignition of the phase-one hydraulic aerial ladder fire trucks and led the guests in prayer at the event.
Brought in through a leasing arrangement, these 10 fire trucks will ensure high levels of preparedness and operational efficiency at all times in emergency operations. The move will also enhance equipment availability, providing more reliable safeguards for public safety.
The first batch of vehicles will be prioritized for deployment to fire stations with higher volumes of emergency calls, in order to improve the immediacy and effectiveness of emergency responses.
At the ceremony, the guests toured the hydraulic aerial ladder fire truck equipment exhibition and received a brief introduction regarding the technical specifications, functions, and operational capabilities of the machinery, learning how these new assets will boost the overall efficiency of the nation’s fire and rescue services.
Attendees at the event included Members of Parliament, the Permanent Secretary and Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Brunei Fire and Disaster Management Department, heads of various departments under KHEDN, as well as senior officials, staff, and members of the Unified Fire and Rescue Department.
It is worth mentioning that the Unified Fire and Rescue Department and Brunei Engineering, Logistics, and Training Solutions Company (BELTS) had already held the “Phase 1 10 WRL-Type Leased Fire Trucks Handover Certificate Signing Ceremony” on November 4, 2025, at the officers’ mess of the Unified Fire and Rescue Department, laying the groundwork for this official handover.
