(Kuching, 30th) The Ministry of Finance urges Malaysians to ensure that their MyKad (identity card) and driving license information is accurate and consistent to avoid any issues during the verification of BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) targeted petrol subsidy eligibility. This measure takes full effect from today (September 30).
The Ministry of Finance pointed out that checks conducted with the Ministry of Transport found that some driving licenses still use outdated identification formats, such as police force numbers, military numbers, or old identity card numbers, which are not compatible with the current 12-digit MyKad format.
To ensure smooth transactions at petrol stations, eligible drivers are urged to check the following license details:
Whether the correct 12-digit MyKad number is being used;
Whether the license holder’s name is accurate;
Whether the correct vehicle category and type are specified.
The Ministry of Finance stated in today’s press release: “Data consistency is extremely important because driving license information will be cross-checked with MyKad data, and MyKad data will be read by payment terminals at petrol stations to confirm eligibility for the subsidy.”
If discrepancies are found, drivers should promptly update their information at the Road Transport Department (JPJ) service counters. The Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Transport will also accelerate weekly data matching efforts to ensure citizens continue to benefit from the fuel subsidy program.
Regarding implementation progress, the Ministry of Finance stated that BUDI95 remained stable on its second day of operation (September 28), and was made available on that day to valid driving license holders who are recipients of “Cash Aid” (STR).
Nationwide, nearly 500,000 STR recipients, as well as members of the Malaysian Armed Forces and the Royal Malaysia Police, have successfully completed BUDI95 transactions.
On just September 28th, the nation recorded RM22.9 million in RON95 petrol sales, totaling 11.5 million liters sold at the subsidized price of RM1.99 per liter, with the MyKad verification process running smoothly.
The BUDI95 system will be expanded starting tomorrow to cover 16 million Malaysian citizens nationwide who hold valid MyKad and active driving licenses.
Since the BUDI95 official website went live on September 25, about 8.6 million users have checked their eligibility status.
The website has also introduced new features, allowing users to log in with “MyDigital ID” for enhanced security to view their BUDI95 transaction records.
