(Miri, 9th) The chairman of the organizing committee for the 2024 6th Miri City Mayor’s Award ceremony, Abdul Rajani, revealed that this year a total of 43 nominations were received from 11 award categories, and 22 outstanding winners were ultimately selected.
These categories encompass youth culture, arts and sports, community work, blood donors, event organizers and managers, environmental protection, media and journalism, social media influencers, business awards, as well as special and grand awards, fully reflecting the diverse contributions of the community.
Rigorous Selection Ensures Fairness
He emphasized that all nominees were evaluated according to the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to ensure adherence to global principles that promote inclusiveness, fairness, and a sustainable future. These goals are also important cornerstones for the future development of Miri City.
“The number of nominations this year is impressive, with each nominee demonstrating unique achievements and contributions. Although the selection process was challenging, we focused on individuals and organizations that have had a significant impact on the future vision of Miri City.”
Cr. Abdullah Bin Jaini, during his speech at the grand 2024 6th Miri City Mayor’s Award Ceremony held last night at the Eastwood Valley Golf & Country Club Banquet Hall, stated that as the organizing chair, he is very honored to be part of this significant event and extended heartfelt thanks to Miri Mayor Adam Yii and all supporting teams.
He especially thanked the committee members for their tireless efforts, from the nomination advertisement, the rigorous selection process to the preparation of the award ceremony, all stages showcased the team’s outstanding dedication. He also expressed respect to the members of the Miri City Council, management, and staff, deeming their support and cooperation as an important guarantee for the successful hosting of the awards ceremony.
