Sun Zheng Protects Lu Sitong from Airport Chaos: 'Double Journey' CP Goes Viral After Hit Show Triggers Crowds

Singaporean artist Sun Zheng and rising Chinese actor Lu Sitong have seen a rapid surge in popularity thanks to their starring roles in the BL drama 'Double Journey.' The pair recently appeared at Shanghai airport, where they were surrounded and blocked by a large group of fans and paparazzi, resulting in chaos. Lu Sitong even accidentally fell down, but Sun Zheng immediately reached out to help his co-star up and shielded him in his arms, sparking heated discussion among netizens.

According to reports, the incident took place on June 1. Both were wearing face masks but were still recognized and chased by crowds of fans. The scene became so crowded that the 183 cm-tall Sun Zheng appeared to suffer from a dizzy spell and struggled to stay upright in the pushing and shoving. Yet when he saw Lu Sitong fall, he went over at once to protect him.

Related video footage quickly went viral on Weibo, with "#LuSitongFellAtAirport" climbing up the trending topics. In the video, Sun Zheng is seen shielding Lu Sitong with his body and escorting him away from the scene, moving many fans of the show.

Many 'Double Journey' fans left comments, saying that the "ZhengTong CP" is loving both on and off screen. Some netizens joked, "Sun Zheng nearly picked up the 183 cm-tall TongTong and carried him away."

After the incident, the two appeared in a livestream to reassure fans. Sun Zheng stated that both he and Lu Sitong were uninjured and promised to be more careful in future.

"We really are fine. Our hands are fine, our legs are fine. Next time we'll be more careful—I'll take care of him, so everyone, don't worry," he said.

Lu Sitong then briefly apologized to fans and thanked everyone for their concern.

On another front, 'Double Journey' has seen its popularity continue to soar since premiering in May. The drama, adapted from well-known writer Blue Lin's classic novel, is hailed as a "heartbreak romance masterpiece" and currently sits firmly atop the viewership rankings on the LGBTQ+ streaming platform GagaOOLala.

Sun Zheng, who was named third in TC Candler's "100 Most Handsome Faces in the World" in 2025, has also gained international fame thanks to 'Double Journey,' making him one of this year's most-watched male leads in Chinese BL dramas.
