(Miri, 6th) “Crosstalk is not only a treasure of traditional Chinese culture, but also an important art form for exercising language, expression, and thinking abilities.”
Last night, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Pei Min Middle School, Xu Weilong, said this when attending the “Pei Chung Crosstalk Night 3.0” organized by the Yisheng Society of Pei Min Middle School, and encouraged students to participate more in extracurricular activities to fully develop their potential.
In his opening speech, Xu Weilong highly praised the organizing team and thanked all the teachers and students, both on stage and behind the scenes, for their dedication to this event.
He pointed out that behind a successful performance lies the hard work of countless people. From script writing, rehearsal, and performance to lighting, sound, and stage setup, every detail demonstrates the team’s thoughtfulness and creativity.
He said that crosstalk values the wisdom of language, control of rhythm, and tacit collaboration. Don’t underestimate the seemingly casual jokes and laughter between the two performers on stage—behind them is highly specialized language art training and mental exercise.

He also sent his hopes to the students that they cherish every opportunity to be on stage, bravely try new things, and constantly challenge themselves. “No matter whether your performance is perfect or not, as long as you’re willing to practice and have the courage to step onto the stage, you’ve already achieved half of success. This kind of courage is a valuable experience that the classroom cannot offer.”
Xu Weilong pointed out that extracurricular activities are an important learning space outside the classroom. He encouraged students to devote themselves to music, dance, volunteering, sports, or any field they love, so as to nurture communication, cooperation, and problem-solving skills, and uncover more of their own potential.
“We host the ‘Crosstalk Night’ not just for the lively atmosphere, but also hope that, through the stage, everyone can see your diverse talents, bringing laughter and warmth to campus. This is exactly the spirit of independent Chinese education—comprehensive development in morality, intellect, physical fitness, community, and the arts.”
He hopes that the “Crosstalk Night” can be passed down one generation after another and develop into the most distinctive cultural event of Pei Min Middle School’s campus, and also encourages the school to continue holding more diverse literary and artistic activities in the future.
