Borneo Pop Song Challenge 2.0 to be Held at Boulevard Mall on May 2

(Miri, 25th) The Youth Wing of the Miri Taipu Association, together with the Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce, will co-host the “Borneo Pop Song Challenge 2.0” on May 2nd (Saturday) at 10:00 a.m., on the 4th floor stage of Miri Boulevard Shopping Mall. All teenagers who love singing are welcome to sign up enthusiastically.

This singing competition aims to promote cultural activities and enhance vocal skills. The competition is divided into a mixed children's group for those under 12 and a mixed youth group for those under 18, open to both male and female participants.

Registration is open from now until March 18th (Wednesday), with a registration fee of RM40. The organizers will hold an audition on May 1st (Friday) from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

All contestants must dress neatly on the day of the competition and choose to sing a pop song (including dialect, Mandarin, English, or Malay). The song selection is up to the contestant. Contestants must prepare their own karaoke accompaniment music (CD, VCD, DVD, or USB).

For judging, experienced music professionals will be invited. The results will be announced after being reviewed by the competition team, and contestants are not allowed to dispute the results. The competition adopts a mixed-gender format and is open to participants from all Southeast Asian countries.

In terms of awards, the children’s group will have a champion, runner-up, and second runner-up, who will receive a crystal trophy, cash prize, and generous sponsored gifts. There are also 5 merit awards and 5 encouragement awards, each with a crystal trophy and sponsored gifts. The youth group also offers champion, runner-up, second runner-up, 5 merit awards, and 5 encouragement awards.

Additionally, there will be a special “Most Popular Male” and “Most Popular Female” award in each group, each winner will receive a crystal trophy and generous sponsored gifts.

All registered contestants, with the original receipt for the RM40 registration fee, can redeem a pair of blue light blocking lenses at Miri International Optical Company.
